I rejoice in 20+ fabulous years of Executive roles in the ever changing and challenging world of major strategic and communications businesses; searching for insight that converts into strategic and behavioural change. I worked on some great clients and big campaigns for Ford, Lucozade, Marmite, Mars, Kelloggs and for those of you a little older, Allied Dunbar (remember “There may be trouble ahead” – no kidding!).
After great personal loss in the death of my wife in her 40’s I recalibrated my new world around the kids and paradoxically surprised myself with a heightened passion for squeezing great joy and fulfilment out of this beautiful life. I found myself indulging a love of stained glass by becoming Britain’s oldest apprentice, wrote a weekly newspaper column in the Guardian under my pseudonym Adam Golightly and shared my experiences in my book, “Being Adam Golightly‘. Consequently I was approached by 000’s of people looking to find out how they can embrace change, great and small, so I decided to train to coach, asking myself the simple question “If Oprah Winfrey had a coach wouldn’t you want to learn from them?” This led me to my training with Martha Beck. Dr Martha Beck holds 3 Harvard degrees in Social Sciences and indeed was described by Oprah as “one of the smartest women I know”. If Martha is the US’s most famous coach, Rich Litvin is probably the most respected British-born coach and I have continued my professional development with him. And yes, I’m a coach who believes in coaching for himself because you can’t sell with integrity what you clearly wouldn’t buy.
